What's happeningEvents & Happenings of BSS Grad 2016:
The Commencement rehearsal was a success! I think the Grads had a few moments when they were going through the motions...tears will be shed on Friday the 24th, so make sure everyone brings Kleenex! We are literally working around the clock to ensure that your Grad receives a well deserved send off! With that said, we are still in desperate need of volunteers-we need approximately 50 people still. The risk of lacking volunteers is that we now have to think of cancelling special events and items from Prom & Dry Grad. Please contact us at [email protected] to volunteer for your shift!!! We need people for Thursday june 30th from 10am-evening to decorate and prepare the PCCC. We also need people for 9-12 on Saturday July 2nd to ensure everything is ready for the event. For the evening we have two hour shifts starting at 5:00-1:00 AND we need a clean up crew from 1-closing...which could be 4 or 5 in the morning depending on how many volunteers we get! Many Hands make Light Work, right! What you need to know for July 2nd, 2016: Beach Pictures are at 1:00 - this is an optional item for the day. We are not organizing anything for this-we did receive a very generous water bottle donation from Oceans Edge Orthodontics though, and will have these available for the Grads. 3:30-All Grads and Vehicles must be up at Springwood Elementary for the Parade Staging. We will have more water and a granola bar to help with hunger and dehydration. Parents of Grads are expected to provide their children with any other snacks they may require. 5:00-The Parade Starts (Parade route will be posted in the newspaper) Once they arrive at the PCCC, the Grads will exit their vehicles, have their moment on the red carpet, and enter the front doors. Once inside...well, that is a surprise! Dinner will be around 7:00 when all of the Grads have exited their vehicles and had their picture moments! (We have contracted a professional photographer for the Red Carpet-Nichole Williams http://www.nicolewilliamsphotography.ca/ After the Dinner is done, we will move into the Prom component of the evening. There will be a variety of fun activities for your Grads, and plenty of food to keep them happy. Please remember that this is a DRY Grad, and anyone caught with drugs or alcohol will be removed from the event. The RCMP will be on site. Thank you for your cooperation with this! 2:30-Pick up your children and take them home safely to bed. The end... Just a reminder that there will be NO in and out privileges, AND Grads will NOT be allowed to enter with a bag bigger than a clutch. (All clutches and persons are subject to search-as according to their waiver forms.) There will be no change of clothing in the venue-Many Grads choose to carry a light pair of shoes for the evening to save their feet, and that is ok, but no bags or changes of clothing. We can not stress enough that absolutely NO Drugs or Alcohol will be permitted at this event! Thank you for your cooperation. Also, if your Grad has not signed the waiver form, they will not be permitted to take part in any of the festivities before they sign on the dotted line! We have had extensive collaboration to ensure that all liabilities are covered, and this is essential for a successful, smooth, and safe evening. IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL A few weeks ago the Grads had an assembly stressing the importance of NOT participating in any Grad Pranks. There is Zero Tolerance with this, and attendance of Commencement and Prom will be affected. ****June 15th is the cut-off date for Grads; final numbers will be calculated at that point. This is essential for ordering food and purchasing items.**** Please donate your Q Points to Ballenas Grads! This will help with food/snacks for the event. All fees are Overdue NOW!
